Art of the Olympians Joins Dance Alive! in Zoom!
Art of the Olympians (AOTO) and the Gainesville-based Dance Alive National Ballet (DANB) have once again joined in an effort to capture the passion in both art and sport to inspire individuals to strive for excellence every day. On Friday, March 25, this passion explodes on the stage- leaping, spinning and soaring to new heights with a new production, ZOOM.... shattering the mold of classical ballet.
Zoom! encourages the audience to expect the unexpected. Artistic Director Kim Tuttle has brought together three amazing Latin musicians and two instrumental groups that will heat up the stage and the dance.
The guest artists/musicians:
- Gilberto de Paz, singer/guitarist from Puerto Rico, and his band Tropix'.
- Welson Tremura, guitarist/singer from Brazil, and guitar quartet Jacare' Violao.
- Oscar Feliu, guitarist/singer from Chile.
ZOOM continues with two more incredible artists - this time women. Four-time Olympian and artist Cameron Myler is the inspiration for ZOOM. As an artist, her passion is photography - think zoom in on a subject. As an Olympian, Myler competed in the luge - where she definitely zoomed down the course. Artistic Director Tuttle used Myler's images and blended them with the music of Composer in Residence Stella Sung to create a stunning work that challenged choreographers Skinner and Tuttle.
Myler, an Olympian Artist with AOTO, is the featured artist at the Art of the Olympians Museum and Gallery in April.
