Rowing/Painting

Cameron Myler

John Stillings, an Olympic silver medalist in the sport of rowing, has spent more than 20 years as a rower and coxswain where he helped steer and create strategy his team's winning strokes.

Stillings was born in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in Sedro Wooley, Washington and currently resides in Seattle. He has spent a lifetime seeing and feeling the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and has been able to capture these images with acrylic on canvas.

Stillings has achieved many accomplishments in his sport career, beginning in 1977 when his team placed first at the Henley Royal Regatta Grand Challenge Cup Championships as a student teammate with the University of Washington shutting out the British National Team. In 1983, his Eight Oared Crew won the Gold medal at the Pan American Games and in 1984, his team went on to win the silver medal in the Men’s Four with Coxswain. As time went on passion for the sport continued and in 2003, won his team the gold medal at the Pan American Games in the Men’s Eight Oared Crew.
