The only person to hold all freestyle world records at the same time and win five medals at the same Olympics, Shane was declared a “Living National Treasure” by her country. Shane is also a Member of the Order of the British Empire and prior to her 5 individual medal legendary performance in the 1972 Olympics was voted “Best Sportswoman in the World”. Her Shane Gould Swimming Foundation provides the life skills of swimming to disadvantaged people throughout the world.
