"The Olympic ideal for me involves the adoption and continuous maintenance of a set of personal standards of attitude and behavior which are consistent with those I set in place all those years ago when striving to fulfill my potential in Olympic competition. As in life, the prize is not in the winning (or the destination), but in the journey along the way. I strive to infuse these values not only in my art form (poetry), but in all facets of my life".
