Passion on Paper Debuts at Art of the Olympians
On February 4, Art of the Olympians (AOTO) will open a 30-year retrospective of Passion on Paper by Olympian Artist, Dr. Liston Bochette III.
As a five-time Olympian in both bobsled (1992, 1994, 1998, 2002) and decathlon (1984) for Puerto Rico, Bochette began to transform his passion for sport into a creative representation in paper drawings.
Bochette, a Lee County Native, Olympian and an inaugural artist and board member of AOTO, captures the strength and creativity of Olympians and the spirit of the Olympic ideals through his artwork. The collection features 30 works on paper, in pencil & primsa, including several never-before displayed works.
Families, friends and community members are invited to attend a special reception, provided by Presenting Patrons Cooner and Associates Surveying and Mapping and Stultz Inc. General Contractors and Construction Managers,on Friday, February 4 from 5-8 p.m. to celebrate the opening of Passion on Paper in the Art Gallery at the Art of the Olympians Al Oerter Center for Excellence at 1300 Hendry St.
Admission to the reception is free of charge. Bochette’s participation in numerous Olympic family, multi-sport games, such as the Pan American Games, World University Games, and CAC Games (gold medalist), keeps him both physically and artistically connected to the culture, creed and creative outlets of the sports arena. The result is an emotive representation of the aspirations, dedication and feeling of the sports world.
Gallery hours are Tuesday – Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Gallery is closed to on Sundays, Mondays and holidays.
